Birthday Surprise

I turned 28 this month which isn't a huge deal because I've been telling everyone that I'm 28 for a while now.  Seriously, 28 rolls off the tongue a lot smoother than 27.

My sweet sweet friends Lauren and Meredith arranged to make the trek to my little ol' town for a birthday dinner surprise and I've never been more excited to see them.  Great friends, good food, and pitchers of Margaritas is exactly how 28 should be celebrated.  Oh, and there was no way of getting out of the sombrero.  I begged them not to make me wear it but clearly I lost that battle.

So, not only did Laur and Mere make the drive to small town North Carolina for my birthday but they also brought some of my favorite goodies.  Irish whiskey and Lilly frames with my favorite picture of the three of us from college.  There is no denying these two know me well.

Here's to a great year full of friends, fun, and pitchers of Margaritas!

Color Run Fun

Somehow the past three months have flown by but be proud to know that I'm still well on my way to completing my half marathon resolution.  Okay, not well on my way but I'm making progress.  The Color Run in Winston Salem was a family affair this year and we had a terrific time.

I would only make two changes for my next Color Run experience:
1- Bring a bandanna to cover my nose and mouth with- the color dust gets pretty extreme
2- Wear a tutu.  I think it really should be obligatory to race in tutus.

I've attached a few photos from the day for your viewing pleasure.

If you're looking for a fun way to get a work out in and play a little The Color Run is perfect.  There were people of all ages and all fitness levels so don't feel discouraged or incapable.  Of course, being the extreme athlete that I am I finished in no time but no pressure!

Next on our list is the Glow in the Park Run in Greensboro.  Clearly I'm only interested in events that include glow sticks, paint, or tutus.  If this is your thing, feel free to join us!
