Back to Boone

My girlfriends and I decided to relive our college years last weekend.  To be honest we were all a little worried that we wouldn't be able to do it.  Could we still manage long nights out at the bar?  Was is possible?  Well, initially we had no doubt that even together we'd all be in the bed and sound asleep by 11pm.  SURPRISED to still be awake and dancing away at 1am we realized WE CAN DO IT!!!

That attitude didn't last long.  Other than dragging ourselves out of the house for breakfast we spent 12 hours on the couch napping between conversations.  Somehow we managed to pull it together for a second night out.  A nice dinner and a fake birthday celebration later we hit the old stomping ground.  It's good to know Klondike is the same double wide we left five years ago.  We ran into Sigma Kappa seniors, talked about the new and old, and were pleased to know our legacy is still in tact.

The most exciting news of the weekend was finding out another one of our own is expecting a baby in November!  Like most women, when we found out we all started crying, clapping, and screaming.

The girls and I had a wonderful time and I laughed myself into stomach cramps on several occasions.  Jen, thanks for being the perfect hostess.  We all had a wonderful time.  I cannot wait until we're all together again.

Celebrating Leighton Drew

Josh and Lindsay McKinney are expecting a sweet bundle of joy in two short months.  We helped celebrate baby Leighton by showering Lindsay with gifts this past Saturday night.  Of course, like any other shower we also used the time to catch up with friends we don't see often enough.  Fortunately for me, Lindsay is delivering at my hospital and yes, I may have a birth plan of my own to share with the staff.  I cannot wait to welcome this baby girl into the world!!!

Non-book club

If you recall, many months ago my Charlotte friends and I started a book club.  In the time since then we realized that we're really not that interested in reading books and have thrown the books to the wayside.  We are now a social club, which makes way more sense!  Our first order of business was a class at Painting with a Twist.  It allowed each of us to be a bit artistic while sipping vino and chatting away.  Of course because my friends are amazing we had a FABULOUS time.  I really encourage you to get a group together and try this yourselves if you can.  In the end, you'll realize you too can be an artist!

I really should start posting photos from an actually camera but what can I say, the iPhone is so convenient.

Bedroom Renovations COMPLETE!

I decided a month back to redecorate my bedroom at the lake.  When I moved here for work I just threw some clothes in a bag and that was that.  My room was a little too dreary and I knew a splash of paint and a few accessories would spice the place up a little.  I thought you'd enjoy a few before and after photos.  I hope you like the end result!

April Showers Bring Mayflowers...

... what do Mayflowers bring?  Babies!

It is crazy to think that so many of my friends have made the transition from wedding showers to baby showers but it's happening!  This past weekend I was able to help celebrate baby Myles Fendley who will be making his appearance in June.  I'm so thrilled for Matt and Marieke and Aunt Shan cannot wait to spoil this precious boy.  I had a great time catching up with old friends and learning about new baby gadgets.  We played "Name that Song" baby style and hand crafted onesies for the newest edition.

I would generally consider myself crafty but I prefer thinking about my projects long and hard prior to executing them. This wouldn't have been an issue had I been warned arts and crafts were going to be involved.  Yes, all of the guests created personalized onesies for baby Myles.  In the time since the shower I've come up with amazing ideas and am fully prepared to paint pen, sponge paint, and create onesies at the next baby shower so someone, PUHLEEZE plan on popping a kid out soon so I can redeem myself.

Okay, so the shark onesie is my creation and I feel like I need to explain myself (which is how you really know it's terrible).  The shark is supposed to be on the 'pocket' but it really just looks like I did a terrible job centering the stencil.  Also, if I'm being completely honest it took three attempts to get the monogram right and I use the term right loosely.  Hopefully Marieke will save this one for a "don't leave the house sick day" and not force an innocent child to wear it in public.

other slightly more adorable onesies

Regardless of my failed attempt to create a onesie masterpiece it really was great seeing these girls again.  Six years is really too long.

Congrats Matt and Marieke.  Baby Myles hit the jackpot with the two of you as parents.  xoxo
