Glow in the Park 5K

pictures are worth a thousand words...

Wendy and Andrea completed both loops and I'm so proud of them.  The dance floor lured me off the trail early.  It's impossible for me to walk away from a dance party of any sort.

Fisherman's Tale

There is a little misunderstanding about the above photo.  It seems that many of the Shepherd Clan want to claim the catch of the day and when all of the facts are in I can understand how it may appear that I did not actually catch the HUGE catfish but let me explain myself.

1- Dad threw the line (but then he left)
2-Mom noticed the line pulling... okay, it could have gotten away had she not pointed it out
3- Wendy grabbed the fishing pole and reeled it in as much as she could.  It's not my fault she was closer than I was
4- Kevin grabbed a net and secured the fish before the line broke

BUT... I was the one who jumped in the lake, man handled the fish, and threw it on the dock before it swam away.

                                                         ...you decide

The World is our Oyster and Disney our Playground

wheels off the ground!
I'm home from the best vacation to Florida with my friends Chris and Megan (note above photo).  We stayed at The Villages with Megan's parents and if you've never experienced The Villages you won't understand the magnitude of it's greatness.  In a few words there are golf courses, pools, woodworking classes, clubs, polo, and most importantly happy hours and live music on all of the squares 365 days a year.  Heaven on Earth.  I went with Meg to visit a year and some change ago and it's just as exciting the second time.  I'm ready for our next visit!

Sumter Landing Square
the only logical mode of transportation in The Villages
Can't stop this group... dancing machines!

sweet Mrs. B!
Not only did we spend time relaxing by the pool and dropping it like it's hot at the square but we also spent two days at Walt Disney World and O.M.G.  This was my first visit to Disney World and although I was excited I didn't know I would love it as much as I did.  Four parks in two days is completely possible if you have experienced Disney goers with you..  Every park has something great to offer the 28 year old crowd like myself and all other age groups.  MUST RIDES:  SOAREN, TOWER OF TERROR, SAFARI, EVEREST, DINOSAUR, ELLEN (I don't actually think this is the name of the ride but you'll know it when you see it), BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN, and TEST TRACK.  Oh, and did I mention I smoked the competition at Buzz Lightyear's 'Space Ranger Spin' with over 300k points in laser tag.  Boom!

Of course, what's a blog post without photos of me at DISNEY WORLD!!!!

FIRST VISIT!

Here we go!!

I briefly considered a change in career to stunt car driver after seeing this

I scream like a girl on all the rides (but so does Chris)

Streba's in front of Cinderella's Castle

When I return I will definitely spend a little more time in each of the countries at Epcot and there will be no stopping me from purchasing another Dole Whip or riding Everest 12 times.

WHEN DO WE GO BACK!?!?

Janis and Kent thank you so much for being amazing hosts.  You're always a joy to be around (even when you threaten me into teaching you the wobble at the square).  Not one thing could have made this trip any more perfect... except maybe for never having to leave :)
