The Lion King

The Lion King is currently playing in Charlotte so mom and I decided to spend an evening grabbing drinks and seeing the show.  Blumenthal Performing Arts Center has amazing shows year round and it really is worth looking into seeing a few if you can. 



What they say is definitely true.  The costumes were out of this world, the actors are outstanding, and the show is entertaining from start to finish.  Lion King is showing through September 1st and is 100% worth an evening out on the town.

 

 

I Made a Dress!

It's true.  We cut our pattern, fabric, pulled the sewing machine out, and wha-la!!!  Thanks to mom, we managed to put this masterpiece together in two nights.

The Face of a Juror

Two and a half years ago I was selected as juror number 4 on a federal court case that ended with a very obvious guilty verdict.  This past week I was summoned for jury duty yet again.  Most people I know have never even been selected to be on a jury, much less selected twice.  I must have the face of a juror because I recently finished my second trial as juror number 8.  Breaking/entering and larceny after the fact isn't as interesting as drug trafficking but it still constitutes jail time.  The good news is that I am definitely an impartial juror because I've officially voted one guilty and one not guilty verdict.  I'm looking forward to my next summons in two short years and am interested to see what trial I'll be sitting on when the time comes... maybe murder?!?!

Carolina's Vineyards and Hops

My friend Catherine, her husband Len, and I decided to meet at Carolina's Vineyards and Hops for drinks and tapas Saturday evening.  Catherine picked the location so I knew nothing about this venue prior to arriving.  I'm amazed, super excited, and hopeful each of you will take the time to stop by next time you're in Winston Salem. 

CV&H serves only North Carolina beers and wines which is amazing, especially with NC being home of over 100 wineries and 60 craft breweries.  The tasting room is equipped with teleconference capabilities which allows for individually scheduled tastings with vineyards from across the state.  Even the antipasto plates are local selections. 

I am a strong supporter of supporting local businesses of all varieties.  As a lover of wines and beers I strongly suggest you stop by next time you're in Winston.  Saturday nights always include a live band so make it an evening out if you can!
